The Hongqi H5 is a compact executive car produced by the Chinese manufacturer FAW under the luxury Hongqi brand since 2017. The Hongqi H5 is based on the same platform as the third generation Mazda 6, but has some distinctive features and specifications tailored to the Chinese market. The Hongqi H5 is positioned under the Hongqi H7 full-size luxury car, and competes with other premium models.
The Hongqi H5 was first launched in China in 2017, and has since undergone several updates and facelifts. The latest generation of the Hongqi H5 debuted in 2022, featuring a new design style that inherits from the Hongqi H9 flagship. The new Hongqi H5 adopts the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which improves the driving performance, safety, and fuel efficiency of the car. The new Hongqi H5 also has a more refined and elegant appearance, with a large red flag logo on the grille, LED headlights and taillights, and chrome trim elements.
The Hongqi H5 offers two engine options: a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 169 horsepower and 258 Nm of torque, and a 1.8-liter hybrid engine with 197 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the 1.8-liter hybrid engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Hongqi H5 also has a start-stop system, which can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by automatically shutting off the engine when the car is idling.The Hongqi H5 has a spacious and comfortable interior, with a body size of 4945 x 1845 x 1470 mm and a wheelbase of 2875 mm. The car features a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a liquid crystal instrument panel, and a central control console with a 12.1-inch display screen.
